Our kids thrive when we are intentionally spending time with them, so we are always trying to think of fun and inexpensive ways we can spend time with them and make them feel special. That’s how we decided to do a DIY Home Spa Day. Our 5-year-old daughter especially LOVES painting nails, doing hair, and any other girly thing you can think of, so that’s where this idea came from, but I also thought it would check lots of love language boxes and I was excited to see what they would think!
I have never done an actual spa day at a spa 🤣 so this took some research to decide what to do. I landed on doing four activities with them: Facials, Back Massages, Nails, Relaxing Baths. I also wanted them to feel fancy, so I planned to play relaxing music and make some Vanilla Rosemary Lemonade to drink out of jars.
This post is all about having a DIY Home Spa Day With Daughters.

2. ROBES + MUSIC
I surprised the girls with robes and told them the plan! I chose these robes because they’re breathable, I don’t personally like fleece and I thought these would be perfect! We turned on this relaxing playlist that I found on Spotify and played it on our bluetooth speaker. We use this baby almost daily, but you could always just play music from your phone if you don’t have one.
3. FACIALS
We did facials first because I figured I would do one girl at a time and then send her to her bath while the oils and lotions are soaking in a bit. I put one throw blanket on top of a bed to keep the bed oil free, and then the other throw blanket they used to stay cozy. I started by cleaning off their faces with a cleansing wipe. Then I very gently used the facial scrub. I cleaned the facial scrub off with a warm, damp washcloth. This is when you would use the steamer, but we chose to not get one this time. Then I gently massaged the Vitamin E oil with a drop of Rosemary oil into their skin. I finished with some moisturizer, also massaging that into their skin.
4. RELAXING BATHS
Once their facial was done, I had them get into the bath with the lights off and a candle lit. We had that same relaxing music playing in there from our echo dot. I had each girl pick a bath bomb, and sprinkle some magnesium flakes into her bath. They each had about 15 minutes to themself in there.
5. BACK MASSAGES
Once they were out of the bath, I had them come back to the bed on the throw blanket and lay on their tummies. I used massage oil and gently massaged their backs. When their patience ran out, I had them go sit at the kitchen table, grab a lemonade, and pick a polish color while they waited for me to start nails.
6. NAILS
We sipped lemonade and I painted their nails at the table. If you’ve never had vanilla rosemary lemonade, now is the time. My kids said it was the best drink they’ve ever had. We just did basic fingernail polish on fingernails, but feel free to get creative!
7. CHEERS
As we wrapped up our DIY Home Spa Day, I took the time to tell each of them things I love about them and encouraged them, and we finished off with a good old fashioned cheers.

I hope this post inspires you to spend some intentional time with your daughters! This is a cheap and easy way to show them how much you love them.
